Perrie Edwards says it’s “heartbreaking” not to have spoken to her former Little Mix bandmate Jesy Nelson “for a long time”.
In a new candid interview with Cosmopolitan United KingdomThe 31-year-old singer talks about how the friendship is now in tatters, her battle with anxiety and why Cheryl has become a close confidante.
Jesy, 33, dramatically quit Little Mix in 2020 due to her mental health and admitted last year that she has not spoken to the band (Perrie, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 32, and Jade Thirlwall, 31) since.
Perrie says: ‘We don’t talk and we haven’t for a long time… It’s really sad, it’s heartbreaking.
“But sometimes these things happen and people decide they want to separate, and that’s fine. I would prefer it to be another way, but you can’t control how things go.”

The singer says that although she is no longer in touch with Jesy, Girls Aloud star Cheryl, 41, has become a pillar of support.
“I always turn to Cheryl. I love her,” says Perrie. “My manager, who used to be her manager, had a birthday party recently and I was telling her things that had happened to me. And Cheryl was like, ‘Yeah, tell me more.’ She’s the best.”
Like Perrie, Cheryl was part of one of the UK’s biggest girl bands before embarking on a successful solo career.
The Little Mix singer has just released her second solo single Tears after releasing her debut, Forget About Us.
In the photo shoot, Perrie shows off her unique style. In one look she sports a blue bikini and a tan bomber jacket, while in another she poses on the grass in a pink dress and cowboy boots.
And while Perrie displays a confident demeanor, behind closed doors the singer reveals she’s battling crippling anxiety.
‘My anxiety is probably the worst I’ve ever had… It started to consume me. It’s horrible. I try to talk about it, because when you feel so anxious or fear having panic attacks, you feel very isolated.
‘It stops you from living everyday life because you try to avoid situations where you might get it, even though you can’t predict it. I have therapy and coping mechanisms. You can never get rid of it, so you have to learn to live with it.

Perrie welcomed son Axel, now two, in 2021 with her footballer fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The singer said she is in no rush to tie the knot.
“Having a baby changes you completely, and so does setting out on your own. I had to find the inner confidence to do it alone, without the girls as a comfort blanket.”

The singer said she is in no rush to tie the knot after the 30-year-old footballer proposed to her two years ago.
‘I look at dresses and stuff online… but I want to have a little bit more time to plan and enjoy it. I don’t want to do it on top of releasing an album and being a mom. I want to enjoy the process. I like being committed.
“He’s simply the best person I’ve ever met in my life… I’m obsessed with him and very happy with my relationship,” she says.
“He’s so supportive, so kind and everything I ever wanted. He’s also the funniest person I’ve ever met. I could cry when I talk about him, I love him so much.”
