Often the best part of a vacation is staying in a fancy hotel and making the most of the wonderful surroundings that you can call home for a week or so.

But sometimes the resorts don’t look quite like they did in the brochure.

Although disappointing, weird things spotted in hotels can often be amusing.

In an entertaining gallery, Bored panda gathered footage of disgruntled vacationers from around the world who weren’t happy with their less-than-luxurious digs.

From oddly placed windows to unreadable security signs, these hotels need drastic improvements.

The gallery also includes a photo showing a bath filled with brown water and a swimming pool with a creepy entrance.

Clean water is essential when staying in a hotel, but one guest was unlucky to find that their bath water was brown.

A vacationer booked a room with a balcony and discovered the view was completely blocked off.

In another case, a tourist was irritated that the curtains in his hotel room did not match the length of the window frame, ruining any chance of a good night’s sleep.

Elsewhere, another tourist opened his curtains to reveal the very unglamorous view of the car park.

Safety concerns were a different concern for other vacationers after learning the window opened from the bottom out and their room was on the eighth floor.

Here FEMAIL shares some of the shocking discoveries people have made while staying in a hotel…

One customer was disappointed to find that the view from their balcony was completely blocked by black wooden planks.

One hotel bizarrely cut out a window right in front of the toilet so guests could see the bathroom from their bed.

Another guest was concerned that the emergency exit strategy sign was barely legible due to a strong pattern beneath the writing.

An air conditioning unit is a big plus when staying in exotic climates, but not when half of it is buried inside the walls.

A good night’s sleep wasn’t an option for the unlucky guest who found that their curtains didn’t fit the entire window frame.

Instead of a view of the pool or an exotic beach, a hotel guest was treated to an unglamorous view of the parking lot from his hotel room.

One hotel offered guests a hairdryer but added a sign next to it that read: “Do not use a hairdryer.”

A swimming pool is often a big bonus when tourists book their stay, but we were disappointed to find a small, scary entrance to the swimming area.

One holidaymaker was horrified to find his window opened from the bottom out, especially as his room was on the eighth floor.
