Patricia Arquette mentions the movie she almost starred in with Tom Cruise…but BOMBED the audition when she came face to face with the A-lister
Hollywood veteran Patricia Arquette almost starred in a Tom Cruise movie.
The 54-year-old actress announced on Sunday Variety at the SAG Awards in Los Angeles that she auditioned for the A-list star, but screwed it up.
The film was director Cameron Crowe’s Jerry Maguire, and the role eventually went to Renee Zellweger, who was a newcomer at the time.
“Everyone said, ‘Oh, this is just a formality, you’re going to read with Tom Cruise for Jerry Maguire, but this is your part, you got it,’ and I blew it,” Patricia told the outlet on the red carpet of the pricing.
The Oscar-winning star added that Texas native Renee was “better for” the part.

“She was amazing,” she added.
Patricia added that she’s just not great with auditions.
“I’m a terrible audition because I don’t feel like that’s the finished work… I want to build layers with the character and with that other person and pivot and change according to how my character feels about them from shot to shot.”
She was also in talks with Brad Pitt in The Doors.
Her role went to Meg Ryan and Pitt stepped out of the movie with Val Kilmer eventually playing Jim Morrison.

A new face: While Arquette was already a veterinarian in the 90s, Renee was a newcomer
“I heard on this podcast the other day that our friend sent us that the casting director, that Brad Pitt and I were her choice, that we were the first to come read for The Doors, and she said, ‘Why are we having more auditions? ?They were perfect,’ she said.
Arquette was last seen on Sunday at the SAG Awards. She wore a sea foam green dress with lace details.
The Severance actress hit the red carpet with her boyfriend, Eric White, 54, wearing a simple black tuxedo.
Patricia and Eric were photographed holding hands as they entered the event.
The Boyhood actress’ dress featured a sheer neckline and flared sleeves.
She was at the event in support of her series Severance with Adam Scott.
