As a result, one of the golfers fell out of the cart and suffered minor injuries, so he refused to receive treatment at the scene.

Delaware Natural Resources Police have… identified a suspect in connection with the hit-and-run incident.

The suspect was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 2, where officials say he made statements that required “transportation to a hospital for evaluation.”

The defendant has been charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs, first-degree reckless endangerment creating a substantial risk of death to another person, leaving the scene of a collision resulting in injury, malicious damage by motor vehicle, failure to have insurance identification in possession, operating a motor vehicle on Division roads/areas not designated for such purpose, and operating a motor vehicle on Division land with willful disregard for the safety of persons/property.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect will be charged after being released from the hospital.

Since the video began circulating on social media, one Reddit user claimed that he was one of the golfers in the group who became the target of the driver.

“This video is me. I’m the guy who runs away just before the driver crashes into the golf cart my friend was in,” the victim said.

‘We had just finished the 16th hole and someone was making donuts all over the driving range.

‘I pulled out my phone to try to take a picture of his license plate to get into the clubhouse.

‘The driver saw that I was recording him and turned around to try to run me over. At this point, all we know is that the police have stopped the driver and we have given our statements.

“We don’t know the motive or anything. It went from ‘I’m taking pictures of an idiot’ to ‘oh, he’s trying to kill me’ in about half a second. What a surprise!”

Authorities have not clarified whether they suspect the defendant of driving recklessly on the driving range.

The golf club is located in White Clay Creek State Park, so DNREC police responded.
