A person died today after falling into the engine of a KLM passenger plane at Schiphol airport in the Netherlands, local media reported.
Emergency crews carried out a “massive” response after the terrible tragedy was first reported at around 3pm this afternoon.
Passengers and crew members were reportedly on board the Embraer 190 aircraft when the incident occurred.
Flight 1341, operated by the Dutch airline, took off from Schiphol in Amsterdam bound for Billund in Denmark.
Initial reports were unclear whether the victim was traveling with the airline or working at the airport.
“Today there was a horrible incident in which a person ended up in the engine of a plane,” the official Schiphol Twitter/X account posted this afternoon.
“Our thoughts are with the families and we worry for the passengers and colleagues who witnessed this.”

The airport confirmed that an investigation was underway to gather more details about the case, led by the Royal Military Police.
The Royal Military Police “Koninklijke Marechaussee” said in a statement: “This afternoon an incident occurred on the Schiphol apron where a person fell into the engine of a working aircraft and died.”
“All passengers and employees of the flight in question have disembarked and are being treated,” the statement read. aggregate.
