Bud Daley, a two-time World Series winner with the New York Yankees, has died at age 92.
Daley was part of the successful Yankees team that won the title in 1961 and 1962.
The team said in a statement Saturday: “The Yankees mourn the passing of Bud Daley and extend our deepest condolences to Bud’s family, friends and loved ones.”
Daley turned 92 on October 7 and died on October 15, eight days after his birthday.
He leaves behind his wife Dorothy, to whom he was married for 72 years, his four children and eight grandchildren.
Daley’s 10-year baseball career as a pitcher saw him play for the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Athletics before joining the Yankees.
In addition to winning the World Series twice, Daley was also a four-time All-Star.
His Yankees team will be in action Saturday night, playing the Cleveland Guardians for a spot in the World Series.
They lead the series 3-1 heading into Game 5 in Cleveland. The winner of the series will face either the Los Angeles Dodgers or the New York Mets.
