Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressed relief after Harry Maguire scored his first Premier League goal for the club and insisted that the star did not deserve to be fired against Chelsea.
The club captain led the corner of Bruno Fernandes home to seal a crucial win over Stamford Bridge, but was lucky enough to escape a red card after he appeared to have kicked out on Michy Batshuayi.
After his side had shifted from fourth place within three points, Solskjaer supported the English international and emphasized a constant joke between the pair.

Anthony Martial opened the score in the capital after he had sent Aaron Wan-Bissaka far into the far corner, with frustration from the hosts when both Kurt Zouma and Olivier Giroud saw that finishes were excluded by VAR.
After another shutout for United, Solskjaer said to Sky Sports: ‘There are four (zero) now, we are becoming increasingly defensive.
“Two very good causes. We were a bit leggy to be honest.
‘Some good individual designs. I thought we were too negative in the first half and made technical mistakes.
“It gives us confidence. It gives us a chance, it will be a tight race (for a top four place).
Solskjaer also insisted that Maguire did not deserve a red card despite an apparent result
Anthony Martial nodded United in front with the visitors within three points of the fourth
‘Sometimes good individual performance, the first half we were too negative, technical errors, but the goals were fantastic. Aaron has worked on his crossing, Anthony has been given x the number of times to enter that course.
“We’ve made a constant joke with Harry and his headers about time.”
Solskjaer also believed that the controversial decisions that caused Chelsea to toil for the goal without reward were correct.
The Norwegian tactician seemed to be sure that Giroud stooped to convert from an offside position and Brandon Williams was previously polluted in a penalty area.
“You just want the right decision to be made,” Solskjaer added. ‘That is offside. I only looked at the screen (in front of Kurt Zouma’s head), I think it looks like a push in the back, for me that is not a goal. “

But the United boss was wary of being pulled into another word war with super agent Mino Raiola.
The future of star midfielder Paul Pogba was the subject of a heated reaction from the influential Raiola, where the agent claimed that “Paul is not mine and certainly not the property of Solskjaer.”
When asked about Raiola’s comments, Solskjaer said: ‘Well, I don’t have to comment on Mino and what he says through the media. I can probably talk to him myself.
‘Everyone has a voice and your opinion. Things are said about us that you want to comment on, but you’d rather not do that and it’s smarter that you don’t respond to many different things. “
