NRL star Josh Addo-Carr makes a very telling move as he fights for his job after cocaine bust

Disgraced Bulldogs star Josh Addo-Carr has hired a very high-profile lawyer as he prepares to fight for his future with Canterbury.

The under-criticized winger hired prominent lawyer Elias Tabchouri to represent him at a board meeting Thursday afternoon in the wake of his drug-driving scandal.

tThe Bulldogs have issued the former State of Origin winger with a show cause notice, and his future will be determined when he appears before the club’s powers that be.

Addo-Carr has seen very low odds of fulfilling the final year of his contract since closer analysis of a roadside drug test conducted in early September confirmed a positive reading for cocaine.

The saga overshadowed the Bulldogs’ return to the finals for the first time since 2016, with Addo-Carr opting to miss the final eliminator defeat to Manly rather than cause a media circus.

Addo-Carr has also received criticism for misleading Bulldogs officials about the incident, and has previously been in trouble with the club’s top brass over a fight at last year’s Koori Knockout competition.

Tabchouri decides not to comment on Addo-Carr before the decisive meeting with the board.

“This matter has had a dramatic impact on Josh and his family,” she previously said.

The Bulldogs midfielder is expected to be fired when he chairs the club’s board of directors

‘It has also been a distraction from an important game for his beloved Bulldogs.

“Although Josh maintains that he has never knowingly ingested illegal drugs, he has decided to pay the infraction and bring this matter to a legal end.”

Meanwhile, Addo-Carr appears prepared for the showdown, posting video footage on social media of himself training accompanied by the song and lyrics of Westside Connection’s Bow Down.

Addo-Carr has protested his innocence after failing a drug test.

Josh Addo-Carr has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bulldogs this summer.

The NRL handed the winger a four-game suspension for his latest indiscretion, along with a three-month driving suspension and a $682 fine issued by the police.

Canterbury’s decision to sign replacement winger Marcelo Montoya earlier this month appeared to be another blow to Addo-Carr’s hopes of staying at the club.

St George Illawarra have been linked with the winger as they look to add speed to their ongoing rebuild.
