Bruno Fernandes was not happy with his team at all after the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday night.

The Portuguese midfielder had given his team a two-goal lead, but was squandered twice in the final phase with Villa netting.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the 27-year-old said: “I am not happy at all, of course everyone is happy to score goals and I am one of them, but I prefer to win the game.

“I’d rather take away my two goals and let someone else score and win the game than score myself.

“Anyway, of course I’m very happy to score, I want to score goals, I want to try to help the team and I think if I score, I can help the team.

“But today it doesn’t make sense, because we only get one point and we want to get the three.”

He added: ‘In the end we don’t get our chances on the counter.

“We’re not doing the last pass or the last run, it wasn’t perfect and at the end we gave them chances.

“They have a good team, they have quality up front, they have players who can score and at the end they scored and drew.

“It’s hard to take because I think the game was under control. I do not feel [the game switched] it not at all.

“After the first goal they started to put more pressure on us, but even then we had our chances, we were still able to score.

“You start to lose balls, lose confidence, the game starts to get better for them and they start to have more space between the lines, more space wider. I think the execution was better than the result.

“Overall we earned more, but the game isn’t about earning, it’s about getting the three points.”
