Noel Gallagher is set to sell Oasis’ hit catalogue for £200m (€235m) after the band’s reunion tour next year.
He said he wants to start a family for life, because he fears that if he leaves the rights to the songs to his three children, “they will probably trade them for a PlayStation game.”
Noel, 57, estimates the hits could be worth £200m and as he approaches 60 the money would ensure he has a luxurious retirement.
His comments will leave fans wondering whether the sale plan was a factor in his decision to end the feud with his brother Liam, both of whom have since left, for the tour, which begins next July.
Noel said: ‘The way I look at it is, when I get close to 60 I’m wondering if I want to leave it to my kids, who will probably trade it in for a bloody PlayStation game.

“Or do I get rid of it now and set everyone up for life? Bob Dylan sold his back catalogue. Hedge fund investors are buying it up. What do you do? Leave it to your kids? They don’t value music.”
Demand for tickets means Oasis’ world tour is being extended to two years. They are considering adding shows in South America, Asia and Australia.
A music industry representative said: ‘More dates were always going to be added to the tour, but not on the scale that is being planned now.
‘We’re talking about 200 dates over at least two years. It’s estimated that this could generate around £1 billion (€1.9 billion).’
Ten million fans from 158 countries lined up to buy tickets when the tour was announced.
HMV said sales of Oasis vinyl records and CDs rose 526% in one week.
If the sale of Oasis’ songs goes ahead, they will follow in the footsteps of Bob Dylan, who sold his songs to Universal Music for around £250m (€295m) in 2020, and Bruce Springsteen, who sold his back catalogue to Sony for around £380m (€450m) in 2021.
