New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara sent social media into a frenzy after a notable play he made in the third quarter of a game against the Washington Commanders.
Down 17-0, the Saints dug into their grab bag and pulled out a trick play.
Quarterback Spencer Rattler threw a backward pass to wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr., who prepared to make a pass.
He saw Kamara running toward the end zone and threw a ball in his direction.
Kamara looked up, saw the ball coming his way, and managed to catch the pass with one hand while managing to stay inbounds.
NFL fans went crazy after that catch and praised Kamara for his incredible display of athletic ability.
Saints running back Alvin Kamara made this incredible one-handed touchdown catch
Kamara’s catch sparked an unfortunate comeback for the Saints that fell short.
“Alvin Kamara is the only hope the Saints have,” wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.
Another wrote: “Remember the offseason when a bunch of spreadsheet nerds tried to tell you Kamara was washed up?”
“Imagine he had a chance with a winning team… such a wasted talent, fuck the Saints and fuck Derek Carr,” said another NFL fan.
That touchdown sparked an inspired comeback attempt by the Saints, who rallied from that 17-point deficit.
On the final play of the game, Rattler completed a pass to tight end Foster Moreau for a touchdown to make the game 20-19.
When faced with the choice of scoring an extra point to tie or going for a two-point conversion to win, the Saints chose the latter option.
Unfortunately for them, Rattler’s pass attempt was rejected and Washington took the win.
