Newcastle could be pushing to sell an interesting young winger to comply with the Premier League’s sustainability and earnings rules, according to a report.

The Magpies may have to sell players if they want to buy this summer as several of their stars, including Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak, are linked with departures.

One of their players, who arrived last summer for £6.5m, could provide an opportunity to secure some profits for the club, although reports suggest they are reluctant to part ways.

The 19-year-old went straight out on loan after joining the club from Odense Boldklub in Denmark, enjoying a season with Feyenoord in the Eredivisie under new Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

The man in question is Yankuba Minteh, who, according to The TelegraphHe would now command a fee of around £40m, and the Reds are interested in his services.

Minteh scored 11 goals in 33 appearances in the Netherlands last season, impressing Slot, who could push for the Gambia international to join him at Anfield this summer.

Reports suggest the 45-year-old believes the winger has the potential to become one of Europe’s best young strikers and praised him during their time working together.

“Our scouts were also impressed by his year in Odense,” Slot said of Minteh in October. “Then (Feyenoord general manager) Dennis te Kloese approached the technical staff.

‘Minteh went to Newcastle United and the English were looking for a club to loan him to. He so he came to us.

‘He certainly doesn’t lack self-confidence. His willingness to give everything is enormous. When we look at his stats, it’s really impressive. Minteh runs more meters against Ajax in one hour than many other boys do in two games.

‘It’s incredibly fast. And he wants it so much.

Minteh was signed by Dan Ashworth and Newcastle could make a cool profit of over £33m if they are to receive the asking price of £40m.

But not only Liverpool are interested in his services. Reports suggest that the Reds, if they want to do something, will have to fend off interest from clubs in Italy and Germany.

Newcastle would apparently prefer to retain their man but know they may have to offload players, and their desire to sign a new right attacker means there may be an opportunity for the teenager to leave.

His departure would mean it would be easier to retain players like Gordon and Isak, while Bruno Guimaraes remains linked with a departure.

The Brazilian star has a £100million release clause in his contract, valid until the end of June, and has said his future “is in God’s hands”.
