The New York Rangers and Islanders paid tribute to local first responders Sunday before their Stadium Series clash at MetLife Stadium when they arrived at the stadium in fire trucks and patrol cars.
Each Rangers player wore a special FDNY or NYPD jersey and arrived with a police officer or firefighter.
They could also be seen arriving at the game in a police car and on top of a fire truck, with winger Artemi Panarin smiling and raising his fist in a photo.

Meanwhile, Islanders head coach Patrick Roy was also seen exiting a fire truck as it headed toward MetLife.

The stadium was packed with fans of the opposing teams, and the Islanders took a 3-1 lead after the first period.
During the game it was announced that the Islanders will host the 2026 NHL All-Star Game at UBS Arena.
Sunday’s Stadium Series matchup between the Isles and Rangers came a day after the Devils and Flyers also played at MetLife.
On Saturday, Flyers stars showed up to the game dressed as fictional boxer Rocky Balboa, a Philadelphia native in the famous film series.

Fans filled MetLife Stadium in New Jersey for the game between the in-state rivals.
The Islanders got off to a good start and took a 3-1 lead late in the first period.
The team wore matching gray sweatshirts and black hats, with white towels around their necks and white tape wrapped around their hands, much like how Balboa looked when he trained for his fights in the movies.
The Devils players, on the other hand, showed up to work in colorful tracksuits, white t-shirts and jewelry around their necks, resembling characters from The Sopranos. The iconic series revolves around Tony Soprano, a New Jersey mobster.
Devils players Timo Meier and Jesper Bratt even posed for photos sipping cups of espresso as if they were drinking outside the iconic Satriale’s Pork Store.
The Devils won the game 6-3.
