Republican Governor Chris Sununu revealed that he believes Donald Trump should choose Nikki Haley as his running mate, and if he were offered the vice presidential job, he would turn it down.
Sununu sat down exclusively with DailyMail.com at the Reagan Institute Education Summit in Washington, DC about the big decision ahead of Trump: selecting his running mate.
He believes the “polarizing” Trump needs a strong, relationship-building bipartisan partner in order to deliver a “record result” for Americans.
“I think it would be great,” he said of Haley joining Trump’s list at No. 2.
The New Hampshire governor, known as a bipartisan builder, spent a lot of time with Haley parading through the early voting state and ended up endorsing her over Trump.

Haley received 43% to Trump’s 54% in the “Live Free or Die” state, but it wasn’t enough for her campaign to eliminate the former president.
But when asked if he would consider joining the Trump administration if he won, Sununu responded emphatically “no.”
“It’s not a Trump thing,” he responded when DailyMail.com asked him if he would accept an invitation from Trump to be his vice president.
“I just have no interest in coming to DC. I mean, I would be honored if anyone would ever consider me for something like that.” “It would be an incredible honor,” she continued.
But he said his family is “not looking to come to DC, to be frank.” But I think it would be very helpful for the entire country, whoever the next vice president is, to bring, first and foremost, that quality.
“I mean, given the Trump situation, it’s very polarizing to have a partner in the White House.”
Sununu had criticized Trump many times during the election campaign, decrying his “advanced age” and saying the president “contributed” to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Trump has called Sununu a “loser” who makes “really bad TV,” essentially ruling him out for the vice presidential shortlist.
“I think it would be great,” Sununu said of Haley joining Trump’s list at No. 2.
Sununu said Mike Pence was a good vice presidential choice for Trump in 2016 because he is very conservative, but always had a “great reputation” for working across party lines and “getting things done” in Congress and as governor.
Despite their tumultuous history, Sununu said last month that he would support Trump by voting for him in November because Biden’s alternative in the White House is too risky.
His comments came a day after former Gov. Nikki Haley revealed she will vote for Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Her public endorsement comes despite Trump calling her a “bird brain” and mocking her choice of clothing on the primary campaign trail.
He explained that because President Joe Biden is a ‘catastrophe,’ supporting Trump is the only option.
