New England Patriots star Christian Barmore has been diagnosed with blood clots after receiving treatment at a Massachusetts hospital.
There is no set date for Barmore’s return: The NFL season is just six weeks away.
“Over the weekend, Christian Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots,” the Patriots announced Sunday, Barmore’s 25th birthday.
‘The doctors at Mass General Brigham treated him appropriately, examined him, evaluated him and treated him. Our primary concern at this time is Christian’s health and well-being.
“Fortunately, Mass General Brigham provides some of the best healthcare in the world. While there is no current timeline for his return, we know Christian is receiving excellent care and we look forward to his full recovery.”

Barmore’s agent, Nicole Lynn, also released a statement that read: ‘I would be remiss if I did not thank Patriots coach Jim Whalen for his absolute diligence and care over the past few days.
“Today could have been very different without Jim’s persistence and expertise.”
Barmore is entering his fourth NFL season after signing a four-year, $84 million extension with New England in April, making him one of the 10 highest-paid defensive tackles in the league.
Selected in the second round of the 2021 draft by the Patriots out of Alabama, Barmore has amassed 133 tackles, 12.5 sacks and 32 quarterback hits in 44 games, including 11 starts.
