Chase Briscoe raced his way into the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs on Sunday night.
Briscoe held off Kyle Busch to win the Southern 500 and clinch his second playoff berth with an incredible drive. Busch pressured Briscoe over the final 15 laps of the race, but Briscoe was nearly flawless in keeping the two-time Cup Series champion at bay.
Briscoe’s win was no fluke. He had one of the fastest cars of the entire night and he made the most of it with an incredible pass to take the lead. Check out this three-way move before the final caution that ended up winning him the race.
Briscoe is the 14th driver to qualify for the playoffs thanks to a win. Martin Truex Jr. and Ty Gibbs claimed the final two spots thanks to their position in the points standings, while Chris Buescher and Bubba Wallace missed out.
