There is a multi-vehicle crash on a major Sydney highway, with people being treated at the scene and motorists stuck in traffic.

The serious accident on the M1 Pacific Highway, approaching Ku-Ring-Gai Chase Road, occurred about 5.47pm on Sunday at Mt Colah, in Sydney’s north.

A New South Wales Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that four vehicles were involved in the incident.

Two people were reportedly trapped in the rubble but are believed to have been freed.

Paramedics are treating two people at the scene and several police, fire and rescue teams are also present.

The crash has caused the closure of southbound lane three and drivers have been warned to use caution and expect delays.
