The morning conference, held by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, was organized to help gather information regarding the South Carolina native’s mysterious disappearance.

The event began with a statement from County Sheriff Leon Lott: “We are confident that there are people in the community who may know something that can help us, but may not realize that they hold the final key to the puzzle.”

Lott went on to share that the department has used “every means of manpower” in the search and that authorities will “continue to search for him.”

Zelig’s cousin, Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs, also spoke at the conference and tearfully shared that Zelig, called Z by family and friends, is believed to have stopped taking medication before disappearing.

He added that “he may appear to be in distress or even in a trance state” and that without medication “he is very, very vulnerable.”

Zelig, who starred in ‘MJ The Musical,’ ‘Hamilton,’ and Hugh Jackman’s 2019 tour, had He recently returned to his hometown from New York City and was working as a dance teacher before his disappearance.

Zelig is a light-skinned black man, is 6 feet tall, weighs 150 pounds, has short black hair, brown eyes and a birthmark on his throat, according to local police.

Shortly after his disappearance, the 28-year-old’s car was located in a parking lot near Congaree National Park, approximately 20 miles from Colombia.

A cell phone SOS alert was sent from the missing dancer’s phone just minutes after he left his mother’s house that fateful morning.

The ping, designed to be triggered by a serious fall or car accident according to Apple, indicated that an accident may have occurred, although when police located Zelig’s vehicle there were no signs of distress on the vehicle.

Police have said the case is being investigated as a “missing person” but foul play has not been ruled out.
