A young mother has shared her horror after claiming she found a worm inside a formula bottle from Target.

Rachel Ruddiman saw the insect larva inside five-month-old Matilda’s bottle. She had made the bottle using Kendamil One Organic formula.

Kendamil insists the worm was likely the cause of the contamination of the home and that it has rigorous health and safety practices. The company has contacted the mother to determine how it could have gotten into the jar.

The mother says she noticed Matilda was having difficulty drinking last Friday. Only when he took out the bottle did he understand why.

Disgusting photos show how Ruddiman discovered a worm blocking the baby’s bottle nipple.

“She had been gassy and vomiting that week since I started the new can, but I didn’t think much about it until then, when I was washing the bottle,” Ruddiman explained.

“I saw this dead worm coming out of the nipple and I thought, ‘That’s why you have a hard time eating the formula,’ because it was like the nipple was blocked with this worm.”

Ruddiman explained that she sterilizes her baby’s bottles before placing them with the lids sealed in her cupboard.

She also just moved into a new apartment that was thoroughly cleaned, which she says supports the suspicion that the formula was contaminated.

Ruddiman explained that he purchased the formula online because there is currently a shortage of British-made Kendamil in the United States.

The manufacturer contacted Ruddiman on Thursday and said an investigation indicated the most likely cause was “unintentional household contamination.”

He explained various processes and verified that the formula passes before reaching the shelves, which minimizes the possibility of contamination.
