A mother of two has revealed how she got out of COVID-19 lockdown after lifting 40cm from her waist.
When Bridget-Flint Chapman, 39, of Myrtleford, northeast Victoria, first went into lockdown in March, she decided to do something about her weight.
“I’d always been the big girl, but it made me sick and wanted to be the best for my two daughters, Arabella, 8, and Clementine, 5,” Bridget told FEMAIL.
Just eight months later, the high school teacher reduced the size of her stomach, hips, legs, and chest – and although she has gained 2 kg, this is all muscle instead of fat.

What is a typical day on Bridget’s plate now?
* BREAKFAST: Healthy mummy smoothie.
* SNACK: Fruit and pretzel.
* LUNCH: Wrap or salad.
* SNACK: Healthy Mummy smoothie or snack bar.
* DINNER: Healthy Mummy Meal.
* BUTTON: Mug cake or fruit.
Bridget explained that while she had always been on a fairly healthy diet before the coronavirus pandemic, her portion sizes were way too large:
“During the weekdays, I often restricted my calorie intake during the day and then I ate too much and had binges after eating,” she said.
‘My weekends consisted of way too many cheat meals and I would completely undo all my good work I had done during the week.’
The mother of two decided to swap her large portions of processed carbohydrates for smoothies through the Australian weight loss program, The Healthy mama, fruits, wraps, salads and healthy versions of her favorite foods like lasagna.
‘I went to lockdown number one and I was really bloated and listless. I knew I was going to come out fat or fit, I was determined to get fit and be the best version of me, ”Bridget recalls.
And within weeks, the fat started to shed hair.
Just nine weeks later, Bridget said she’d lost 40cm of her stomach, so when Melbourne re-locked in July, she wanted to focus on turning it into muscle.

Bridget linked her healthy diet with plenty of regular exercise:
“I work out every morning before the house wakes up and do a mix of running, HIIT, Tabata and strength training,” she said.
‘At the weekend I play netball and try to do a long run or a trail run. I’ve found that adding strength-based HIIT training to my workout completely changed my body shape.
‘It’s been the biggest change and really allowed me to drop sizes in clothes.’

“ I think we should drop the scales and stop allowing our success on our weight loss journey to be guided by this number, ” she said.
“Closing number two was a lot more difficult mentally and I just wanted to stay on track with my healthy diet, water intake, and exercise.”

She added, “I found that concentrating on one day at a time made it easier to stay on track.
Keep it simple, increase your water intake and stop any snacks after dinner. This is what worked best for me. ‘
Today, Bridget said she’s never felt better.
‘I have so much more energy and less bloating. I feel stronger and happy. I am more organized and my anxiety is much more controlled, ”she said.
