The FDA has issued several warnings against injectable silicone for body contouring, saying they can cause long-term pain, infections and serious injuries, including death.

“Injectable silicone oil (breaks down) into smaller particles throughout the body, possibly causing permanent damage and life-threatening complications such as strokes, embolisms, and even death,” Lisa Vasquez, certified aesthetic nurse practitioner at Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery , said USA Today.

Vásquez cautioned that the silicone injection reversal process is difficult, even for the most skilled plastic surgeons.

“Removal will require a direct incision or ultrasound-guided VASER-assisted liposuction, (which) removes the injected silicone, siliconomas and scar tissue,” he said.

«But there is nothing that can dissolve liquid silicone. Granulomas that form must be surgically removed.’

He FDA Such injectable silicone remains in the body forever because the material will never break down.

‘Injectable silicone is permanent and remains in the body. “It can move throughout the body and cause serious health consequences, including death,” the FDA stated.

In California, a mother and daughter were convicted last month of involuntary manslaughter for fatal buttock lifts.

Libby Adame, 53, and her daughter Alicia Galaz were charged with causing the death of their client, Karissa Rajpaul, 26, in October 2019.

The mother and daughter ran an illegal Brazilian butt lift surgery ring using “toxic” compounds in their silicone injections.

Prosecutors said they fled the scene after several botched surgeries, including after Rajpaul suffered a heart attack on his operating table at a hotel.
