A man wearing a red T-shirt continues to trade blows with a youth in the clip, which was filmed in Cowgate, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
As the couple falls to the ground, the young people run around them and shout to each other.
Several of the youths then appear to kick their victim repeatedly, at least five times.
An off-camera voice shouts, “Enough, enough!” before the clip ends.
When contacted by MailOnline, the owner of the barbershop in Ponteland Road denied that the altercation involved any of his colleagues.
He added that this happened “a couple of days ago.”
A series of Facebook posts commenting on the video suggest the young men had been involved in an altercation with employees at a nearby pizzeria moments earlier.
According to a woman who witnessed the incident, the young men boarded a bus at a stop just outside the hair salon.
They were then followed by two men wearing red T-shirts who stormed the bus.
The men are believed to have started “beating the young men” before attacking the witness’s partner, who had asked them to leave the bus.
According to the witness, the bus driver remained at the stop while police were called to the scene.
The video has attracted thousands of views on social media, with many criticising the youngsters’ behaviour.
In a shocking moment towards the end of the clip, the youths appear to turn on their victim and repeatedly kick him in the head.
One called their behavior “disgusting,” while another said they were “bad, very, very bad.”
Another said: “I would be ashamed if it were my children, I would hand them over to the police myself, there is no need for this kind of behaviour.”
A fourth said: “Wild and absolutely shocking behaviour.”
MailOnline has contacted Northumbria Police for further comment.
