A malfunctioning escalator at Saturday’s Brewers-Cubs game in Milwaukee injured 11 fans, one of whom called it “the scariest thing that’s ever happened to him.”

“Following the conclusion of today’s game, an escalator at American Family Field that transported fans from the terrace to the box level malfunctioned,” read the team’s statement following the Brewers’ 5-game loss. -3 against the visiting Cubs.

No life-threatening injuries were reported, but six of the 11 injured fans were taken to hospital. The other five were treated at the scene.

“I was one of those caught up in this,” he continued. “A large portion of our group was on the escalator as it completely gave way with over 100 people on it.

The incident spoiled an already bad day for the Brewers, who fell to their former manager, Craig Counsell of the Cubs.

The Cubs and Brewers will play the series decider on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 a.m. local time.
