She said of her mother: ‘She and my father didn’t aspire to be rich. In fact, they were suspicious of people who took more than they needed. They understood that it wasn’t enough for their children to prosper if everyone around us was drowning. So my mother volunteered at the local school.’
This led many on social media to wonder what Obama was talking about, given his personal net worth and his family’s multiple properties, including a lavish estate on Martha’s Vineyard.
