Meghan Markle wore a chic ensemble worth £30,937 as she attended the George Zajfen Tennis Tournament in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, opted for a sophisticated look in a fitted, sleeveless, halterneck ‘Edda’ dress by luxury Italian brand Giuliva Heritage, priced at £1,050.

The timeless piece, made from a sustainable blend of cotton and wool, took six hours of “pure craftsmanship” to create, according to the brand’s website.

The mother-of-two teamed the dress with her £725 brown satchel bag by Caroline Herrera and a matching pair of £620 heels from one of her favourite brands, Aquazzura.

She accessorised her look with a pair of £92 classic Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses and her go-to jewellery pieces, including her £21,400 Cartier Gold Tank Française watch and a £7,050 yellow gold ‘Love’ bracelet from the same brand.

Meghan styled her black hair back in loose curls and opted for a luminous, summery makeup look that highlighted her California tan.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared at the George Zajfen tennis tournament in honour of Kelly McKee Zajfen’s late son George.

The Child Rights Alliance event was in memory of George, who died aged nine in July 2022 after being found unconscious in his family home.

Meghan is known to be good friends with Zajfen, co-founder of the alliance that supports pregnant and parenting teens in the Los Angeles foster care system.

In an Instagram post on Prince Harry’s birthday the day after the tennis match, model Zajfen and her family thanked the Sussexes for their support at Saturday’s competition.

Along with five photos, they wrote at the end of a long message: “A very special day… HAPPY 40th birthday, H! May this trip around the sun be the best one yet.”

Other stars in attendance at the tournament included Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott, New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel, Scrubs actor Zach Braff and Meghan’s friend and former Suits colleague Abigail Spencer, it was reported. People.

Images in the post showed the Duke and Duchess posing with the Zajfen family – Harry wearing a T-shirt and blazer, and Meghan wearing an ivory dress.

The Zajfen family wrote that it was an “amazing day, filled with emotions and so much love” and that the funds raised “will go directly to supporting children in foster care, ensuring they have the legal protections, resources and opportunities they deserve in honor of our beautiful son Georgie.”

Her post continued: ‘Our community showed up in spectacular fashion and I am in awe! Get ready for days of posting pictures from this magical afternoon because I have so many people to thank and shout from the rooftops how amazing you all are!’

‘But first, to our principal patrons, the Archewell Foundation. Harry and Meghan, you have been a guiding light for our family, not just in the way you have shown yourself to be friendly, but also in the way you have shown yourself through the incredible work that the Archewell Foundation does every day.

“I am in awe of your commitment to community and friendship. On behalf of the Alliance for the Rights of the Child, we thank you. On behalf of our family, we love you.”

The tournament, which has been running for 20 years but was recently renamed in George’s honour, included a round-robin doubles competition and a luncheon.

The Duchess has supported Zajfen through her grief since George’s death, and Zajfen has previously described Meghan as an “incredible friend and mother”, adding that she is “always the first to say yes and support those you love”.

Harry, who is living in California after leaving the working monarchy, spent his birthday on Sunday with Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

He is then said to be heading to a meeting with close friends.

This comes after Prince William and Kate wished Harry a happy 40th birthday in a message on social media.

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared an earlier post from the Royal Family on X and added their own message, which read: ‘Wishing a happy 40th birthday to the Duke of Sussex!’

Some will see the post as a surprise move given the unresolved tensions between the brothers. Their estrangement has shown no signs of abating, with the duke also having a strained relationship with his father, the King.

A post from the Royal Family account yesterday marked the first public birthday message for Harry since 2021. One post shared on X simply read: “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!”

The message was also accompanied by an image of a smiling Harry and a birthday cake emoji.

The chosen photograph of Harry, taken when he was a working royal in 2018, was snapped during a visit to a start-up in Dublin with Meghan by his side, but she was cropped out.

Harry turns 40 in what has been a rollercoaster 365 days for the royal family, with the King and Princess of Wales being diagnosed with cancer.

When the shock news about the King’s health was announced in February, Harry made a transatlantic trip to see him – but his meeting with his father lasted just 45 minutes.

In comments published on the BBC, the duke said: “I was looking forward to turning 30, I’m excited to turn 40,” and described how fatherhood had given him a renewed sense of purpose to make “this world a better place.”

This year, Harry has tried his hand at bobsleigh skeleton by joining the training of competitors for the Invictus Games in Canada, and has made quasi-royal trips to Colombia and Nigeria.

In Colombia, Meghan participated in a panel on Black Women and Power and recounted how her three-year-old daughter, Lili, had “absolutely found her voice.”

The couple also relaunched their Archewell website, rebranding it as Sussex.com under the title The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Harry travelled to London in May to mark a decade since his Invictus Games and attended a service at St Paul’s Cathedral, but did not meet his brother or father.

Birmingham has won the bid to host the sporting competition in 2027, and the Duke congratulated the city on its success and looks set to attend the games in the UK in three years’ time.

In July, Harry was awarded the Pat Tillman Service Award, given by sports network ESPN to people in the world of sport, for using his platform to “change the world.”

But Tillman’s mother, Mary, reportedly expressed surprise that the honor was given to “such a controversial and divisive individual.”

In his speech, Harry praised Mrs Tillman, saying: “Her advocacy for Pat’s legacy is deeply personal and I respect that. The bond between a mother and child is eternal and transcends even the greatest of losses.”

Meanwhile, The Sunday Times reported that her legal battle with the Home Office over her safety while in the UK had “frustrated” the King.

In February, Harry lost a High Court appeal against the Home Office over a decision to change his personal security level when visiting the UK, but has been given the green light to appeal.

During the case, the court was told that Harry believes his children cannot “feel at home” in the UK if it is “not possible to keep them safe” there and that he faces a greater risk than his late mother, with “additional layers of racism and extremism”.

Elsewhere, Meghan has started a new venture with the soft launch of her American Riviera Orchard brand when she sent limited-edition strawberry jam to friends, although the business has faced setbacks with her attempts to trademark it.

Harry’s new Netflix documentary series about the world of polo will air in December.

The Duke briefly returned to the UK in August for the funeral of his uncle Lord Fellowes, when he stayed at Althorp, the ancestral home of his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales.

She reportedly had no interaction with William at the church service.

The Duke has an upcoming trip to New York later this month, where he will make visits for his Archewell Foundation and engagements with African Parks, The Halo Trust, The Diana Award and Travalyst.
