Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have broken their silence on the pressing issues of cyber abuse and early signs of suicide in a new interview.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, in a clip from their interview with CBC anchor Jane PauleyThey discuss the critical need for parents to protect their children from online harm. The Duchess expressed her paternal instincts by saying: “Our children are small, they are three and five years old.“They are amazing, but all we want to do as parents is protect them.”

Meghan went on to highlight her commitment to positive change: “We can see what is happening in the online space. We know there is a lot of work to be done there and we are happy to be able to be a part of making a change for the better.”

Pauley mentioned the importance of children having someone to turn to when they need help. Harry responded by emphasizing the role of parents: “In this point, We have reached a stage where almost all parents must be the first to respond.”

She stressed the difficulty parents have in recognising the signs of a serious mental disorder: “Even the best first responders in the world wouldn’t be able to spot the signs of a possible suicide. That’s the scary part of it all.”
