King Frederick spent a night out with two glamorous blondes before ascending to the throne – and Queen Mary was nowhere to be seen.
The then crown prince met glamorous TV star Janni Ree, 54, and her friend Camilla Dalsgaard, a dancer, at Hyttefadet in the coastal town of Skagen last July.
Speaking to BT, the women said they met the royals at the bar and hit it off, so spent the night partying together.
It was during Denmark’s infamous “29th Week”, or Hellerup Week, a time when wealthy young people flock to the small town in their million-krona cars and fancy boats for a week of fun and plenty of drinking.
The women admitted they were delighted to see the “party prince” in action.
“Camilla and I ended up partying with him. Just the three of us. It was incredibly nice,” Janni revealed.
“He wasn’t drunk, but he was happy and healthy. Very fresh, actually. He’s a very festive guy.”
Her friend Camilla “laughed at the story” and said it was a pure coincidence that they were in town at the same time as the then Crown Prince.

“It was a fun experience. It’s weird to go into town and meet a royal,” Camilla said.
The Week 29 party night came just months before the popular royal was spotted out and about in Madrid with glamorous socialite Genoveva Casanova, 47.
The friends were photographed together by Spanish magazine Lecturas, sparking rumours of a whirlwind romance.
The Mexican-born socialite categorically denied having an affair with the Crown Prince, and the Danish Palace simply said they do not comment on rumours.
In January, Queen Margaret resigned and King Frederick and Queen Mary assumed the monarchy.
Although her cold public displays increased speculation that something was wrong in their relationship.
In May, the popular royal family decided to work during their 20th wedding anniversary, surprising their fans.
