Kmart issues urgent recall on popular Anko baby toy

The Australian retail giant has recalled a popular toy sold at Kmart that could cause “serious injury or death.”

The Anko soft activity ball poses a potential choking risk and may not meet current standards for toys designed for children under 3 years old, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has warned.

The multi-coloured toy consists of rattles at each end that have small balls inside plastic domes, which have been disassembled. yahoo reported.

“There is a risk of serious injury or death from suffocation if small children put the pellets in their mouths,” the product recall said.

The ball was sold in Kmart and Target stores between August 3 and October 18, as well as online.

Buyers who purchased the Anko soft activity ball have been warned to stop using the product immediately and ensure it is out of the reach of children.

Customers are urged to return the item to the place of purchase.

Although Kmart changed its return policy in July and requires all items returned for a change of mind to have a receipt, this does not apply to defective items.

The Australian product number is 9341110379350 for the ball.

Kmart and Target are renowned for their low prices and have become firm favorites for Australian shoppers struggling during the national cost of living crisis.

Target began selling Kmart’s Anko products after a $10 billion merger with the two retail giants was announced in 2023.
