Ricky Hatton has unleashed a furious rant at former opponent Floyd Mayweather, claiming he is showing “totally disrespectful” to his fans by fighting YouTuber Logan Paul.
‘Money’ takes on the 24-year-old streaming star on Sunday in a fight that will net the American boxing icon more than $100 million (£72 million) this weekend.
And former British boxer Hatton, who lost to Mayweather in a 2007 WBC welterweight clash, claims the American “cares nothing” about his legacy or his fanbase — and is purely focused on the money aspects of the fight.

Hatton told Subway: ‘I think Floyd Mayweather is damaging his legacy, his colleagues will look at him. However, the truth is that Floyd doesn’t care.
“He doesn’t care. He called himself “Money” Mayweather for God’s sake, that tells you all you need to know! It’s all about money for him. Personally, I thought it was about the fans, the fans pay your wages.
“The fans deserved to be entertained. Floyd isn’t worried as long as he gets money. It shows a total lack of respect for his peers and the other great champions of yesteryear.
“Looks like he’s rubbing it in everyone’s face. Against people who work twelve hours a day, seven days a week and can’t afford a holiday.’
Hatton believes Mayweather ‘don’t care’ about facing his legacy or his fans through Paul
Sunday’s fight marks the 50-0 boxer’s second exhibition fight since he retired from the sport after beating UFC star Conor McGregor in a 2017 crossover fight, netting him more than $300 million.
Mayweather also quickly defeated Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve 2018 and now faces YouTuber Paul, who has only competed in one professional fight in his career – a loss to British icon KSI in November 2019.
Hatton took on American great Mayweather 14 years ago in one of the most standout fights of his career, but was knocked down by the ‘Money’ in the tenth round in Las Vegas.

The ex-British fighter admitted that YouTuber Paul will be given the chance to take on Mayweather, ‘p***** me off’ as it took Hatton several years and successful fights to get the same opportunity.
Hatton continued, “Some things have to come before money. Like inheritance.
‘How much money does he want? He has already secured the future of his family. The last few fights you want are the ones that secure your legacy.
“I haven’t seen Logan Paul, I don’t know if he’s good or how bad he is. I didn’t know who he was until a few months ago, until he was associated with all these fighters.

“What upsets me, as a boxer who loved and still loves this sport, I’m very proud of how hard I worked to get the chance to fight Floyd Mayweather.
“I beat Kostya Tszyu, who was the best in the light welterweight division. I beat Carlos Maussa, I beat Luis Collazo, I beat Juan Urango, I beat Jose Luis Castillo, that’s how I got my shot at Floyd Mayweather.
“He (Paul) has a shot at him because he has 72 f****** million followers. And it destroys me.’
