According to Deadline, the reboot, produced by Mattel Television, will “focus on the unresolved storylines of the iconic characters and continue where they left off decades ago.”

Hamill will portray He-Man’s archenemy Skeletor in the animated series, while Supergirl’s own Chris Wood will speak the iconic protagonist of the show.

Headey, who controlled malice during her reign as Cersei Lannister on Game of Thrones, will help Hamill’s Skeletor as his “evil witch” accomplice, Evil-Lyn.

Teela, Prince Adam / He-Man’s female ally, will be voiced by none other than Sarah Michelle Gellar from Buffy.

The original series premiered in 1983 after the success of the He-Man action figure that Mattel released in 1982.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe ended in 1985 after two seasons of 65 episodes each.

The classic cartoon is set on the fictional planet Eternia ruled by King Randor and Queen Marlena who are the parents of He-Man – more particularly his bourgeois identity Prince Adam.

Prince Adam transforms into his supernatural alter ego when he grasps the Sword of Power and pronounces the phrase “By the Power of Grayskull.”

This action grants the prince with insurmountable power, making him the most powerful man in the universe.

In typical superhero format, He-Man uses his supernatural powers to ward off the evil that threatens Eternia.
