The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3-pointer at the end of Thursday’s game against Alabama didn’t make the highlight reels, but not for lack of importance.

Rather than affect the outcome of the game, Ross Williams’ jerk only managed to turn a 24-point loss into a marginally less embarrassing 21-point loss.

However, the last-second three-pointer overcame the gap of 23.5 points, causing the players to go into hysterics.

“Whoever shot those three to mess up my Alabama spread I’ll find him,” the player wrote, hopefully just joking.

“That kid in Corpus Christi demanding the ball to cover the spread was pure March,” quipped Dan Katz of Bar Stool Sports.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi guard Ross Williams (23) has his shot blocked by Alabama guard Rylan Griffen (3) in the first half of a first round game. He later hit a late 3-pointer that sent players into hysterics.

“Ross Williams of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi knew exactly what he was doing,” charged one fan.

It’s unclear if Williams understood the consequence of his 3-pointer, or exactly how much money changed hands as a result.

Williams, the stepson of New Orleans Pelicans coach Willie Green, has not commented on the shot and his Twitter account also makes no reference to it.

Of course, those who lost money as a result of the shot will not be easily swayed.

“Alabama not covering this spread was a sham,” another player tweeted. “I won’t win another bet today, this ruined the vibes forever.”

Interestingly, the previous Texas A&M-CC game had a similar last-second swing.

Playing in the ‘First Four’ of the NCAA Tournament, the Islanders held a 74-71 lead over Southeastern Missouri State, when a controversial foul with 1.5 seconds remaining gave Texas A&M CC a chance to make two shots. free to cover the difference of 3.5 points. .

The NCAA Tournament remains one of the most popular annual events for bettors, who bet an estimated $3.1 billion on the 2022 tournament. In total, more than 17 percent of American adults (approximately 45 million people ) gambled on March Madness last year, according to the American Gaming Association.
