It is bad news for Manchester United that their usual tormentor Mo Salah is stronger than ever as he enters the final year of his contract at Anfield.

Salah has scored 14 goals in 15 appearances against United, more than against any other club, and became the first opposing player to celebrate a Premier League treble at Old Trafford in 2023 when Liverpool won 5-0.

The 32-year-old Egyptian has started the season in fine form, scoring in each of his first two games, and has said he will “enjoy” what could be his final 12 months at the club.

“You can see the form he’s in. He’s getting better with age in terms of physical performance and attributes,” says team-mate Andy Robertson.

‘He is a big-game player. His goals and assists speak for themselves and he is always up to par against our opponents.

‘The moment he walked through that door, he set Anfield and other stadiums alight.

“He’s a Premier League legend, of course he is, but I still want to write some more stories and I hope that’s his appearance in other big games this season.”

However, they are yet to drop a point or concede a goal under new coach Arne Slot, and Salah remains the x-factor.

“Obviously he’s our main man and teams are trying to stop him,” Robertson added.

‘Mo knows when a big game is coming up, but he also sets standards every day. He is a model professional and if any child or anyone is looking for professionals to model themselves on, Mohamed Salah is not a bad person to turn to.

‘He dedicates his life to football.’

“It’s been a great start so far. Everyone has enjoyed learning a new way of playing and trying to implement the coach’s ideas,” Robertson said.

‘We still have that freedom to help our wingers and overlap, but defensively we’ve worked on certain things to hopefully become more defensively confident as a unit.

“They have not spared any effort and it is up to us to go out and play at the weekend. We have done that so far, but this will be a different test.”
