A man died and a woman fights for her life after a domestic strike in a house in Sydney this morning.

Two thirteen-year-old girls were at home at the time of the incident, but a police report said they were unharmed.

Emergency services were called to a home in North Richmond around 10:45 am after reports of a stabbing.

A man in his forties died on the spot and a woman, presumably in his sixties, was treated by ambulance staff from the NSW ambulance at the Enfield Avenue site.

She was later taken to the hospital in Westmead, where she is in a critical condition.

A second woman, reportedly in her forties, also suffered minor injuries, but was not taken to the hospital.

Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command attended the incident and a crime scene was established.

A report is prepared for the coroner and the investigations are continued.
