A man has died after falling 30 meters from the top of a popular waterfall in far north Queensland.
The 55-year-old man from Brisbane fell from the Behana Gorge waterfall, at Clamshell Falls, south of Cairns, about 1.30pm on Sunday.
Police launched a search and rescue mission and found the man at around 2.30pm with life-threatening injuries and he was in the water for some time, police said. ABC reports.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that paramedics attempted to resuscitate the man, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The latest incident comes after a 58-year-old man died in 2019 after slipping and falling while at the popular swimming hole.
Behana Gorge Waterfall is a thirty-minute drive from Cairns and is popular with swimmers and offers visitors stunning views.
Tourists are advised to bring food and water as there are no facilities in the area.
