Sarah Ferguson has revealed she had to be “opened up” by cancer to tackle her binge eating addiction and find a new lease on life.
Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, 65, is currently in Australia on a book tour, just weeks after King Charles and Queen Camilla visited the country.
The Duchess of York was interviewed by the Daily Telegraph on Sunday when she spoke about the aftershock of her breast cancer diagnosis last year.
The royal family member underwent a one-time mastectomy and then discovered malignant melanomas when she underwent breast reconstructive surgery.
Fergie said she had only gone for her routine mammogram because her “bossy” sister Jane, who lives on the New South Wales Central Coast, had picked on her.
“My melanoma scars, my cancer scars, had to be literally cut away to remove the addictions to self-doubt and self-judgment that I have lived with since I was 11.”
‘Don’t wait for them to open up to you to eliminate the addiction. My addiction was my addiction to food.
‘So I ate to make up for my feelings. It started at 11, my whole world was food and my life was in the bottom right corner.’

“I’m a badass grandma with a sense of purpose, a badass grandma, a sexy, cheesy, badass grandma.”
