Gucci is currently the world’s most popular brand after beating high-fashion brands such as Dior and Louis Vuitton to number 1 on Lyst’s quarterly index.
According to the London-based search platform, the luxury Italian fashion house has benefited from strong demand from online shoppers and the ability to create moments that resonate with the digital audience ahead of its 100th year.
They mentioned that a photo of Lady Gaga and Adam Driver on the set of the upcoming unaffiliated movie House of Gucci helped generate a buzz.
The survey found that the most popular women’s product in the world is currently the monogrammed jacket from The North Face x Gucci collection.
Combining Gucci’s distinctive motif with The North Face’s recent momentum, the Instagram item flooded and sold out instantly – and resellers then charged up to five times the original price.
Meanwhile, Nike managed to take second place and Dior entered the Lyst Index for the first time this quarter, in third place.

Nike took second place in part due to the seasonal demand for fitness apparel, but also by making headlines with releases such as the first hands-free shoes.
Designed for adaptive athletes, the Go FlyEase racer found wide appeal and ranked 7th among the Lyst Index’s most popular products.
To compile the results, the search platform filtered more than eight million items based on the number of social media mentions, searches, page views, interactions, and sales across thousands of online stores.
Lyst is used by more than 150 million people every year to view, discover and buy items from 12,000 brands and stores. Their formula also takes into account the global demand per available stock.

Interestingly, the results showed that Nike’s most high-profile moment came at the end of the quarter, when the sportswear giant took a legal stand against MSCHF and rapper Lil Nas X’s unauthorized ‘Satan’ sneakers.
According to Lyst, the episode raised some interesting questions about how consumers interact with – and remix – products and brands. It is also a reminder of how unplanned moments can dominate headlines for companies strongly embedded in culture.
The quarterly index results show signs of consumer optimism following the introduction of the vaccine and the expected opening in many markets with pent-up demand for items beyond lounge wear.
Global fashion retail platform Lyst had previously excluded Dior from the rankings due to its distribution model, but demand for second-hand goods has had an impact.
Louis Vuitton also participated for the first time this quarter, despite limited distribution through Lyst.
Kylie Jenner (pictured) and Hailey Bieber lead the demand for Attico’s Devon mules, which are currently the 5th hottest women’s product

Lyst has seen a 163 percent increase in the demand for heels and 222 percent in the demand for dresses quarter on quarter.
Attico’s Devon mules, worn by celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber, are the fifth most popular women’s product, while Nensi Dojaka’s influencer-approved strappy dress ranks 10th.
Meanwhile, the demand for pre-owned Hermès bags has grown by 430 percent, with the famous Kelly model being particularly sought after.
Considered both an investment and a classic statement to take a variety of outfits to the next level, showcased by influencers such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Camille Charrière, the big ticket bag is the second most popular women’s product.

Pre-owned luxury watches are also in high demand, with searches up 47 percent.
Female shoppers in particular were interested in larger sizes – traditionally marketed to men – and Rolex’s 40mm Submariner ranks 9th in the women’s product list.
Bridget Mills-Powell, the Content Director at Lyst, said, “The things shoppers have viewed, saved, and purchased on the Lyst app indicate an imminent return to nightlife.
Sweats have weathered us for the past year, but many fashion enthusiasts now want to put the sweatpants aside and rediscover the joy of dressing up.
‘In the fashion industry we see a spirit of openness and togetherness, where many brands work together. Influencers are raising the profile of newer designers like Nensi Dojaka, whose strappy dress features in The Lyst Index.
Cultural moments such as Amanda Gorman’s role in the presidential inauguration inspired fashion enthusiasts with her poetry and Prada ensemble. It’s exciting to see the return of optimism. ‘
