Luke Shaw has reportedly ignored criticism from fans after sparking a wave of backlash by participating in the viral TikTok trend.
The footballer, 29, angered Manchester United fans after appearing in the “embarrassing” video at a lavish New Year’s Eve party.
The clip saw Luke and His wife Anouska joins her friends, including influencer Molly-Mae Hague, to imitate Mugshot Freestyle (The Northern Boys Remix).
But viewers were not amused when the England star said “Your mother is on benefits” while earning £150,000-a-week at Man United.
The club’s fans took to social media to criticize the injured player, while also highlighting the Red Devils’ current problems.
However, Luke’s friends have claimed that he is not bothered by the reaction as he has “gotten tough” due to his long sporting career.

talking to the sunA friend explained: “Luke Shaw is used to the reaction he gets on a daily basis and there are people who joke with him about the fact that he gets paid more to be off the field than on the field as he is always injured.”
‘Although the TikTok video was filmed in a private meeting, it ended up going viral, but Luke had no problem with that.
‘For him, it was just a bit of light-hearted fun. He’s so used to abuse that he doesn’t let it bother him.
The team currently sits 13th in the Premier League after a run of four consecutive defeats and a draw against Liverpool on Sunday.
Luke has been limited to just 68 minutes of top-flight action this season, with the left-back suffering an injury in 2024.
Reacting to the TikTok, fans took to X to rage: “This is not acceptable for any Manchester United player, especially one whose contributions are minimal.”

But injuries limited him to just eight appearances for Man United in 2024, while he played three times for England at Euro 2024.
Last month, Luke shared an emotional statement on social media after confirming he had suffered a “small setback.”
He wrote: “Hey guys, it really hurts me to have to write this because I really thought I had overcome my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forward, but unfortunately I have had a bit of a setback.”
“I’ve been through a lot and I’ve had a lot of ups and downs, but this has definitely been my most difficult period.

“But what I can promise is that I will do everything I can to come back better soon and help this club achieve its ambitions this season.”
