Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw took part in an English national team training session on Monday.
This was Shaw’s first time training with his international teammates this summer, after appearing at Euro 2024 with a hamstring injury.
That injury had kept Shaw out of action for his club since February and Gareth Southgate’s decision to call him up after four months without playing took many people by surprise.
Shaw had been training alone since arriving in Germany, but all 26 members of Southgate’s squad trained together on the eve of their Group C clash against Slovenia.
Shaw, 28, who has made 31 senior caps, is the only specialist full-back left in the England squad. Newcastle right-back Kieran Trippier has started at number 3 in recent games against Serbia and Denmark.

Monday’s session in Blankenhain was attended by the entire 26-player England squad, including Harry Kane (left), Kieran Trippier (centre) and Anthony Gordon (right).
Southgate followed Shaw closely during Monday’s session, particularly during a rondo drill.
The former Southampton star looked good on the ball and then showed his impressive pace and agility during his turn through the middle.
Shaw is unlikely to start against Slovenia. However, a brief cameo from the bench is possible.
If England finish top of Group C, they will next be in action on June 30.
The winners of Group C will face the runners-up of Group F in Gelsenkirchen.
Portugal appear on track to win Group F, with either Turkey or the Czech Republic likely to finish second, although technically Georgia could still claim second place.
Shaw had been training alone during England’s Euro camp in Germany.
Monday’s training took place around 36 hours before England’s match against Slovenia.

He could now make his first appearance at Euro 2024 on Tuesday, but probably not as a starter.
