An Indiana mother who believed her daughter would be the “next Jeffrey Dahmer” showed no emotion as she was sentenced to 30 years in prison for her daughter’s death.
Cheyenne Hill, 34, was found guilty of neglect resulting in the death of 20-month-old Elliaunna Plummer on Nov. 26, 2022, by a Lawrence County jury in February.
Judge John Plummer III sentenced her Tuesday to 30 years in prison, telling the court, “This is a sad, very sad case.”
Elliaunna was rushed to the hospital in 2022 due to a brain hemorrhage, broken collarbone, and bruising to her head and face.
His mother was arrested and formally charged in September 2023 when police opened an investigation into his death.

Judge Plummer ordered Hill to spend decades behind bars and declared it justice for Elliaunna.
“This little girl needed someone to stand up for her, stand up for her and protect her,” he said.
‘It was Cheyenne’s responsibility to do that, and she didn’t do it. This is very tragic. This was an emotional and difficult case for everyone. To some extent, justice is being done for Elliaunna today.’
Shocking details about Elliaunna’s injuries were first revealed in a probable cause affidavit in August 2023.
“Photos of (the girl) before she was transported to Indianapolis revealed a swollen, deformed head and bruising on her forehead and the left and right sides of her face,” a detective wrote.
“Reddish-brown markings were observed under both eyes.”
The caseworker who called police said two anonymous tips about Hill were left at the Department of Children’s Services days before the girl was taken to the hospital.
They almost certainly reported child abuse and possible drug use.
“The caller reported that (the girl) had what appeared to be three fingerprint marks on one side of her face and one on the other, consistent with what appeared to have been caused by someone grabbing her face and hand.” pressed,” the affidavit continues.
‘The caller described (the girl’s) condition as lethargic, not waking up, looking ‘half dead’ and barely able to hold her head up.
Judge Plummer ordered Hill to serve 30 years behind bars and declared it justice for Elliaunna.

“The caller said (the girl’s) mother went to work, leaving (the girl) with the person she had been living with despite (the girl’s) condition.”
Prosecutors said Hill was selfish and cared more about smoking marijuana, eating fast food, keeping and living with her boyfriend than she did about her daughter.
The court heard horrible comments from Hill about his daughter, including an interview with a representative of a donor network.
He said his daughter “wasn’t a good girl” and he believed “something wasn’t right with her” and that she would be the next Jeffrey Dahmer.
A month before Elliaunna died, she sent her boyfriend Cameron Fleming a message saying: ‘(She) was f***ing terrible last night when we got back. She wouldn’t stop crying. She wanted to pull it from her.
The next week she told him: ‘Let me put this idiot to bed.’
Investigators asked Hill why she went to work the same day her daughter was unconscious in the hospital.
Prosecutors do not know who caused the injuries that killed Elliaunna, but the jury concluded that negligence had the same effect.
“He did it knowingly,” Deputy Prosecutor Joshua Scherschel said in his closing argument.
We do not know beyond a reasonable doubt who performed the physical act that killed Elli Plummer.
“Unfortunately we know that her mother had the responsibility of caring for that child, but she put her in danger to the point of death.”
