Anton Ferdinand invited John Terry to sit with him in front of television cameras to discuss his alleged racist abuse and dismissed the former England captain’s claim that the incident could have been handled better.
In 2011, Ferdinand claimed that Terry used a racially charged term to address him during a match between QPR and Chelsea at Loftus Road.
Terry is alleged to have called Anton a ‘f***ing black bastard’ with video footage circulating online. He later claimed that he told Ferdinand: “Hey, Anton, do you think I called you a black idiot?”
The former Chelsea defender was charged over the incident but was cleared in court.
Terry has always denied abusing the former QPR centre-back but was handed a four-match ban and a £220,000 fine by the Football Association following the incident.

Ferdinand later reshared the statement in a post on social media site X (formerly Twitter).

Ferdinand, however, dismissed the accusations and challenged Terry to confront him in front of television cameras to clear up the incident for good.
‘Positive change…@JohnTerry26 if you want to chat, let’s sit down and look at the pictures?!’ he posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
The post came alongside a clip of Ferdinand speaking on Vibe with Five, his brother Rio’s YouTube channel.
“As you know, I made a documentary for the BBC, which laid out all the facts and in which he (Terry) actually refused to appear,” says young Ferdinand in the clip.
‘I wanted him to be there to create positive change.
‘I’ve seen what he said on Simon Jordan’s podcast, so my thing is this.
Ferdinand accused Terry of racially abusing him during a game at Loftus Road in October 2011.
Terry has always denied the allegations and was acquitted in court after being charged.
The former Chelsea captain stood trial in 2012 but was eventually acquitted of racial abuse.
Terry claimed on Simon Jordan’s podcast last week that he felt the incident could have been handled much better.
‘If you really want to make a positive change, I will sit with you with live cameras recording so there is nowhere for us to hide and nowhere to hide.
‘We’ll look at the actual unblurred footage and go from there.
“If you don’t want to talk like that, as far as I’m concerned, the case is closed.”
Speaking on Jordan’s podcast, Terry revealed that Rio once whitewashed him on a Dubai beach after being accused of racially abusing Anton.
The 43-year-old also claimed that he had tried to clear things up with the Ferdinand brothers, but to no avail.
“I’ve since tried to talk to Rio, who doesn’t want to talk to me at all,” Terry said, when asked by Jordan for his opinion on the incident.
“I saw him on the beach in Dubai and he refused to talk to me. I think it could have been approached and addressed much better if I’m honest.”
Terry was charged with using racist language by the CPS in December 2011 and pleaded not guilty when his trial began eight months later, before being acquitted.
The FA then accused him of using “abusive and/or insulting words or behaviour” which “included a reference to Fernando’s ethnic origin or race”.

The five-time Premier League winner opted not to appeal the decision and later apologized for the “language used.”
In a statement, Terry said: “After careful consideration, I have decided not to appeal the FA’s ruling.
He added: “While I am disappointed with the FA’s ruling, I accept that the language I used, regardless of the context, is not acceptable on the football field or in any area of life.”
Terry had previously spoken publicly about the incident during a BBC documentary, ‘Football, Racism and Me’, which premiered in 2021.
In it, the former Chelsea star claimed he had spoken to Rio in Dubai and said: “Do you have five minutes?” I’d like to talk to you,” to which the former Manchester United defender replied: “I don’t want to talk to you, JT.”
Meanwhile, Rio previously criticized Terry for how he handled the racism case, calling him “the biggest idiot” in his autobiography published in 2014.
Terry added during his interview with Jordan that he had also tried to talk to Anton about the incident in 2011.
“I tried to contact Anton that night after the game,” he said. ‘And they basically instantly disconnected me from all of them.
‘I knew Anton, we were colleagues, we knew each other and we always got along well. Obviously I got along well with Rio. We could have done something more powerful than what happened in the end. And that’s probably my disappointment because (racism) is in the game.
‘Clearly in the stadiums and all that now we have to go out safely. “We could have done something very powerful as a group of players, not just us but everyone else, I think, at that time.”
Ferdinand, who played for QPR between 2011 and 2013, denied that Terry had tried to approach him.
Ferdinand posted a Tweet saying “the door was still open for a chat” and asked Terry to call him.
Meanwhile, Ferdinand previously responded to Terry’s comments that he had contacted him, denying that the former Chelsea defender had been in contact.
He wrote in a tweet in 2021: “I never received a call personally from JT before the documentary or during the process.
As I said in the document, the door is still open to have a conversation if you are serious about racism in football and want to create positive change.
