Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher says Real Madrid are not as good as Manchester City or Chelsea
Real Madrid ‘are a very good team, but they are not as good as Man City and Chelsea,’ says Jamie Carragher – with Liverpool icon ‘certain’ they will beat the Spanish giants – who have ‘brought good luck’ – in the Champions League final

- Real have beaten PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City in the knockout phase
- Jamie Carragher thinks Liverpool will beat Real and win a seventh European Cup
Jamie Carragher believes lady luck will not smile at Real Madrid when they meet his beloved Liverpool in Saturday’s Champions League final, arguing that the Spanish giants are not on the same level as Manchester City or Chelsea.
The two teams meet at the Stade de France in Paris, where Real are looking for a record-breaking 14th European Cup, while Liverpool are looking to get their hands on the iconic trophy for a seventh time.
Real Madrid have so far dramatically beaten Paris Saint-Germain (last 16), Chelsea (quarter-final) and Manchester City (semi-final) in the knockout stages, but Carragher is convinced their fortunes are running out against his former side. †

And despite progressing beyond Chelsea and City, Carragher believes Real’s quality is inferior to Liverpool’s domestic rivals and therefore believes the latter should be included as a favourite.
“I’ve seen Real Madrid in the Champions League this season and they’ve lost more Champions League games than Liverpool all season in all competitions,” he said. Sky Bet’s The Overlap podcast†
“Real Madrid are a very good team, but they are not as good as Manchester City and I don’t think they are as good as Chelsea, even if they beat them both.
“You can spin it both ways with the mind, win it, come back, but they brought good luck in those games, which you need. If you win every game in the last minute from behind, if you’re such a good team, you don’t always end up in that position.

‘Man City should have mistreated them, they should have won’ [their semi-final first leg] 6-2 at home – and then they are 3-0 behind Chelsea at home.
“Of course Real can win, it’s a one-time game. I just think that if City or Liverpool played a one-off game against Real Madrid, with their team and playing their best side, they would win the game. I am sure.’
Carragher will be in attendance and hopes to be proven right after his departure to Paris on Friday morning with his son James.
