Lily Allen has revealed she is “not in a good place mentally” and has stopped eating.

The singer, 39, has been attending therapy to sort out her issues after moving to New York with her children Ethel Mary, 13, and Marnie Rose, 11, and her husband David Harbour.

Speaking on his podcast Do you miss me?which she hosts with her best friend Miquita Oliver, Lily made a candid confession about her mental health.

The Smile creator opened up about how this has affected her diet, with the star admitting she hasn’t eaten and never feels hungry.

“I’ve been going through a tough time for the last few months and my diet has become an issue,” Lily said.

‘My therapist and I talk about it and she says, “How long has this been going on?” And I said, “Well, actually about three years.” And she’s like, “Okay, why didn’t you mention it before?”

And it’s not because I’m lying about it. It’s just because it doesn’t seem to be at the top of the list of important things I need to talk about, but it obviously is.

Lily added: “I’m not very good at talking about the big picture. That’s also something to do with my ADHD, where I don’t connect things.

‘And also, my body and my brain are two very separate things for me. I know a lot of people feel like those two things are very connected to each other, but for me it’s very different. I spend a lot of time in my head and little time thinking about my body.

“I’m really not in a great place mentally right now and I’m not eating. I’m not hungry. Obviously I’m hungry, but my body and my brain are so disconnected from each other that my body… the hunger messages don’t get from my body to my brain.

‘I’m not avoiding food, I’m just not thinking about it because I’m so psyched up. My body is like a few steps behind me.

Speaking about the issue last year, Lily claimed that she often forgets to eat and finds it difficult to eat meals that have not been “ordered and prepared for me.”

She said she loves food, but her stomach can go “long distances without eating” while she is distracted by caring for her two daughters.

Lily also revealed that she is not a big fan of fast food as she has an “anti-capitalist way of thinking about eating.”

In 2021, Lily was forced to defend herself against trolls who commented on her weight loss and accused her of looking “too skinny” after she shared a video clip from an appearance on The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan.

“You’ve never seen me two years completely sober, not smoking and exercising every day,” she told one critic.

Replying to another, he wrote: ‘Seriously, where do you get off? You know NOTHING about me or my lifestyle. How dare you?

In March this year, Lily revealed why she made the big decision to uproot her two young daughters’ lives and move to the United States.

Speaking on her podcast on BBC Sounds, Lily and her friend Miquita Oliver talked about the recent awards shows and noted how open with their emotions Americans were compared to “dumb” Brits.

'My children ruined my career. I love them and they complete me, but in terms of pop stardom, they completely ruined it' (pictured in 2006).

Lily shared: ‘One of the reasons I moved here is because I feel like it’s a much more encouraging environment in which my children can thrive.

‘Just one example of that would be when I decided to do a play even though I had never acted before and certainly had no experience in theatre.

‘When I told Americans about it, they said, “Oh my God, that’s so exciting! You’re going to learn so much, you’re going to wipe it out!”

“And then, when I told the English about it, they said, ‘A play? Have you ever done that before? Aren’t you afraid?” Culturally we are very different.”
