A former police officer has been identified as one of two people who died in a horror three-vehicle crash in a major city tunnel.

Bruce Daley, aged in his 50s, died in a pile-up in Brisbane’s Legacy Way tunnel at Mount Coot-Tha shortly after 3pm on Wednesday.

A woman in her 20s who was a passenger in a silver sedan also died.

The driver of the sedan remains in a critical condition after undergoing surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is understood he left the police 10 years ago.

The horrific accident closed the city’s main tunnel for hours on Wednesday.
