Leaks reveal budget version of the Pixel 4 phone from Google has a ‘perforator’ camera and a headphone jack
Leaks reveal budget version of Google’s Pixel 4 phone has a ‘hole-punch’ selfie camera and a traditional headphone jack
- A new, cheaper Pixel 4 may be the first Google phone with a ‘perforator’ camera
- The camera is expected to be attached to the front left corner of the screen
- It can also be supplied with a 3.5 mm headphone connection such as its predecessor, the Pixel 3a
- Whether the device comes with Google’s Soli chip remains to be seen
A new, more budget-friendly version of the Pixel 4 can be delivered with some unknown functions for a device made by Google.
Unofficial renderings made by 91Mobiles use of information from frequent leakers, OnLeaks suggest that a new, cheaper Pixel 4 – the Pixel 4A – becomes the first Google phone with a self-camera with perforator style.
Images show the small round sensor in the upper left corner of the device screen, which has a very thin border around the outer border.
The rumored new Pixel phone from Google is possibly the first of such devices that is equipped with a ‘hole-punch’ selfie camera. Renders made by OnLeaks and 91Mobiles pictured above show the camera with one sensor in the upper left corner
According to OnLeaks, the back of the device will be attached with a camera module – a rectangular bump – that looks like the current Pixel 4.
It is likely that the module will have a reduced number or sensors compared to the Pixel 4 due to the expected price range of the phone.
According to OnLeaks, the device may only have one rear-facing camera sensors as opposed to the two of the current version.
Leaks suggest that the device draws inspiration from previously released budget phones from Google, namely the 3A, and includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack, external speakers on the bottom of the phone, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor that can be used for unlocking.
The device would also come in two display sizes: a 5.7-inch screen and a slightly larger 5.8-inch.
It is unclear how much the Pixel 4A can cost or whether it is supplied with the Soli chip from the Pixel 4 with which users can operate the device with hand gestures
An important missing detail revolves around whether the new device will use the advanced Project Soli chip from the Pixel 4, which enables some of the most crucial functions of the Pixel, such as hand-operated controls.
As noted by The Verge, the 4A seems to have a much smaller bezel compared to the Pixel 4, meaning that it is possible that Google Soli had to remove to achieve the design.
Although Google has not yet officially announced the new Pixel, OnLeaks suggests that the device can be released in January or at least somewhere in the first half of January.
