Watch: Chris and Dianne fight back tears after semi-final performance

Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell were emotional after their performance on Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The comedian, 47, is the first blind contestant in the BBC show’s history, and on Saturday he and his partner Dianne scored 36 out of 40 for their Viennese waltz to Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters.

With his arm around Dianne, Chris fought back tears as he told host Claudia Winkleman: “When you start this series, they ask you for a list of songs you like. And I played him this song and he didn’t know anything about dancing.

‘Underneath, I wrote “I think this would suit one of those geniuses” and I was right! But it’s amazing and it was wonderful to do it with Diane.”

The CBeebies star’s friends had come to support him in front of the studio audience in the semi-final, and he admitted he was “emotionally disastrous” with them there.

He warned Claudia: ‘Don’t get me started, I’m an emotional mess tonight. I’m telling you.’

Pete Wicks ‘will invite Maura Higgins to see him in the Strictly Come Dancing final’

I'm A Celebrity's Maura Higgins applauds Pete Wicks' question ITV/Getty Images

Pete Wicks plans to invite Maura Higgins to see him in the Strictly Come Dancing final next Saturday, according to reports.

The former TOWIE star, 36, told friends he would like to “make it official” with the beauty, 34, when she returns to the UK from I’m A Celeb in Australia.

Over the past few months, the couple have been meeting up for secret dates, although both stars have refused to label their relationship and insist they are still single.

A source told The Sun: ‘Pete has really missed Maura while she’s been away, and has found it difficult not being able to contact her. It made him realize how special she is to him.

‘He has told his mates that he is thinking about asking her to be ‘exclusive’, meaning they won’t date anyone else.

“Plus, if she makes it to the Strictly final next week, he thinks it would be the perfect week to invite her to watch in the audience.”

Tasha Ghouri is looking to take the next step in her career after her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

As the show’s second deaf contestant, the 26-year-old has consistently impressed this season, topping the leaderboards on Strictly multiple times and achieving the first perfect score of 2024 with her performance on American Smooth.

With just two weeks left in the competition, Tasha is already considering new opportunities in television presenting.

“I haven’t gotten many TV offers yet, but I’d love to host it next year,” Tasha said.

“I think that’s my main focus and something I’m definitely considering. Hopefully there will be conversations starting next year.”

Born deaf and with a cochlear implant, she made Love Island history as its first deaf contestant, finishing in fourth place along with her boyfriend, Andrew Le Page, with whom she is still in a relationship.

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left outraged after results from Saturday’s show were leaked once again, ahead of next week’s grand final.

The BBC competition will air the pre-recorded results show on Sunday night, revealing which two couples received the fewest votes and ended up in the dance.

But, a notorious mole on the flagship show has revealed the final two couples and which of them will be sent packing and narrowly miss out on the final.

And although the latest spoiler has left fans “sad” and “disappointed”, they have taken to social media to praise the remaining four as “deserving” finalists.

They wrote: ‘Sad about the spoiler but everyone deserves to be in that final! Congratulations to the finalists; ‘I’m happy that my favorite has made it to the final!’

Pete Wicks is the heavy favorite to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing in Saturday’s semi-final, after surviving the competition last weekend despite finishing last in the rankings.

The former TOWIE star, 36, is 4/9 to leave on Sunday according to William Hill, although he has defied the odds in recent weeks.

He dodged the Week 11 dance after scoring just 26 with his waltz on Saturday night, but with just five couples left in the competition, he’s strongly tipped to be next.

JB Gill is next on the market at 3/1, followed by Tasha Ghouri at 8/1, the survivor of the most recent dance.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “Pete Wicks has once again defied the odds to avoid elimination from Strictly Come Dancing, but we’re 4/9 that his luck runs out this Saturday.”

‘The public vote is saving the former TOWIE star at the moment, but with only five couples left in the competition, it is looking increasingly likely that Wicks will be at this week’s dance and the judges are unlikely to find him save, with JB Gill still on the market for the next elimination at 3/1.
