Kylian Mbappe will reportedly take a pay cut before joining Real Madrid, after confirming he will leave Paris Saint-Germain after seven years this summer on Friday night.
The France captain has long been linked with a move from the Parc des Princes to the Bernabeu, and last summer refused to sign a new one-year contract that would allow him to move to LaLiga as a free agent.
Since then, Mbappé has remained tight-lipped about his future fate, refusing to reveal his next move until the end of the campaign.
The striker will play his last game in PSG colors at home on Saturday against Toulouse, before the last game of the season next Wednesday against Nice.
But with his move away from the French capital, Mbappé will see a big change in his circumstances as he turns his back on his current blockbuster deal with the Ligue 1 champions.
Kylian Mbappé will become Real Madrid’s highest-earning player despite receiving a considerable cut
The France captain confirmed his much-discussed departure from Paris Saint-Germain on Friday
The 25-year-old has enjoyed a highly decorated season in Paris, winning a total of 14 titles.
according to asMbappé’s salary will be drastically reduced to bring him in line with Real Madrid’s highest salaries, even though his proposed salary will dwarf the salaries of even the team’s most senior members.
The 25-year-old previously signed a two-year deal with the Parisian giants which earned him a salary of £5.1m (€6m) per week, with his annual gross salary before tax estimated at £62m. of pounds sterling (€72 meters).
But the Spanish outlet claims that Mbappé’s new deal will be almost two-thirds less than the titanic sum requested at his former club: approximately £21 million (€25 million) a year after taxes.
Despite this seismic drop between PSG and Real Madrid salaries, Mbappé can still comfortably claim to be the top earner at his new club.
His salary will be almost double that of the team’s two most important figures currently: David Alaba, who earns 9.3 million pounds (10.8 million euros) and Toni Kroos, with a salary of 9.2 million pounds (10.7 million euros) a year.
Last summer’s superstar signing, Jude Bellingham, is also believed to get a similar amount.

The signing of superstar Jude Bellingham is believed to have a salary in line with that of senior figures.
PSG fans gathered in front of the Parc des Princes on Friday night following Mbappé’s message.
To announce his departure on Friday, Mbappé released a heartfelt message in which he personally thanked the club, his teammates, his fans and each of the coaches with whom he played during his stay in Paris.
“It’s difficult and I never thought it would be so difficult to announce that I was leaving my country,” Mbappé said in the video. ‘France, Ligue 1, a league I have always known.
‘But I think I needed this, a new challenge after seven years. It’s difficult and of course there are some people I want to thank above all. These are the fans.
‘I know I’m not the most demonstrative player. I haven’t always been up to you for seven years. I have always wanted to be effective.
‘PSG is a club that never leaves anyone indifferent. We can love it or hate it. I made the decision to love him and did so for seven years, with ups and downs of course. But I do not regret at any time having signed with this prestigious club.
“It is a club that I will keep in my memory all my life. I will tell everyone throughout my life that I had the opportunity to play.”
But two notable omissions during Mbappé’s surprise confirmation statement speak volumes about the player’s relationships during his final seasons in Paris.
Mbappé chose not to mention either the club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, or former sporting director Antero Henrique.

Neither did former PSG sporting director Antero Henrique, sparking speculation about a breakup.
The club president and his landmark signing have reportedly gone cold since Mbappé refused to sign a one-year contract extension in 2023.
according to L’EquipeMbappé has not spoken to Al-Khelaifi since February and relations have been deeply strained.
The player is not believed to have let Al-Khelaifi know that he planned to publish the farewell statement, although several key figures at the club did know, including sporting director Luis Campos.
Things are rumored to be so cold between Mbappé and the Qatari executive that the two have reportedly been avoiding each other for the past few weeks so as not to be forced to greet each other.
Fans will be able to say goodbye to Mbappé in person on Saturday night, with a tifo in honor of the club’s success in Ligue 1 this season and a lap of honor planned for Mbappé to thank them in return.
