Strictly’s Kevin Clifton has revealed that he wrote a drama during lockdown after attending one of Jed Mercurio’s online courses.
The 38-year-old professional dancer appeared on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4 on Tuesday when he revealed he’d taken up the new hobby.
Although he said he couldn’t say too much, he had switched to writing in recent months.

“I took a course online, actually Jed Mercurio’s course, and I just really enjoyed writing,” he said.
‘I’ve had this idea in my head for quite some time for a drama set in the ballroom world, the ballroom competition world. It’s kind of in the works right now. ‘
Jed Mercurio is best known for his work on Line Of Duty, Bodyguard, The Grimleys and Bodies – which was based on his own 2002 novel.
Kevin’s newfound passion for writing wasn’t the only revelation on the show, however.
Although known as a Strictly Come Dancing pro, Kevin said his dance confidence fades when he gets into a social situation.
Hush-hush: Speaking on Steph’s Channel 4 Packed Lunch on Tuesday, Kevin said he couldn’t reveal too much about his secret writing project
He said, ‘Social dancing, I don’t really know what to do. Unless it’s choreographed and put together and there’s a real purpose behind it, and a character and a story, and a choreography.
‘As long as it’s some music here, start dancing. I am a bit of a daddy dancer. I don’t know what to do. ‘
Kevin’s writing revelation comes after his partner Stacey Dooley makes fun of their relationship.
The 34-year-old television host made a speech on Monday’s Loose Women, joking about the lack of interest in her romance with Strictly’s Kevin Clifton – insisting they are ‘so boring’ after being together for two years.
She also talked about how she suffers from imposter syndrome in her career.
The media personality touched on the heightened interest in her love life after appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, where they found love and then joked about the diminished attention their union is now getting.
Stacey was partnered with Kevin and the pair won the show together.
The pair made their romance public in early 2019 after the show wrapped and just weeks after divorcing her boyfriend of three years, Sam Tucknott.
So Boring: Stacey Dooley revealed that she and Kevin Clifton, who she’s been with for two years, are ‘as boring’ as she appeared in Monday’s episode of Loose Women
Speaking of the focus on her relationship, she said, ‘I did [struggle] initially I did that at the start. I didn’t know there would be such an interest especially who I like and who I’m dating. I thought that was boring for everyone else. ‘
But now she has revealed that interest in the couple has waned two years later, saying, ‘Now Kev and I have been together for two years, so nobody really cares anymore, and we’re so boring’.
During the television appearance, Stacey also admitted that she often suffers from impostor syndrome at work.
She said, ‘I’m riddled with impostor syndrome most of the time. Then you have to remind yourself that if they thought you were incapable, they wouldn’t have you in …
‘I am always very grateful for that. I like my job, I like what I do for a living. I’m really lucky. ‘
