Kamala’s ‘frustrated’ life without suitcases at Blair House while the VP’s mansion is being renovated
Kamala Harris is concerned, a report released Saturday, as she still lives without suitcases awaiting the completion of the renovation of the vice president’s residence at the Naval Observatory.
Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff temporarily live across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House in Blair House, the president’s official guesthouse known for its luxury.
“She gets frustrated,” an administrative officer told CNNand noted that her desire to move into her designated home intensifies every day.
However, the vice president could contribute to the delays, despite her complaints.
According to two administrative staff aware of the property’s constant updates, Harris, who loves to cook, has asked for work on the kitchen.

The Vice President’s Residence at the Naval Observatory in North West Washington, DC is undergoing renovations, including updating all seven working chimneys
Usually in the transition of residents there are a few weeks when Navy personnel operating the house can freshen up the house and prepare for the upcoming vice president.
However, the second couple was unable to move into their private residence for more than two months after the inauguration as renovations and construction continue.
Built in 1893, the vice president’s official residence is regularly updated and renovated.
An administration official said the delay in construction has made Harris increasingly irritable.
Harris was recently spotted viewing the 9,000-square-foot mansion – he even stopped by three weeks ago for a one-hour visit, according to CNN
Harris knew at the time of the inauguration that she would not move into her home right away as it would require repairs that could be done more easily with an empty house.
An administrative assistant revealed that part of the work required was the renovation of the manor’s seven chimneys.
While Blair House is comfortable and luxurious, Harris tends to prefer more casual, modern, and sleek accommodations. In January, Harris moved from her minimalist DC apartment to Blair House.
Blair House’s more than 100 rooms include a gym, on-site hair salon and thousands of museum-quality antiques and pieces.
The Blair House has been referred to as ‘the most exclusive hotel in the world’ because it is primarily used as a guest house for visiting foreign leaders, dignitaries and other guests of the President.

Her apartment was light and airy and modern, consistent with her more casual style – in contrast to the formal and antique character of Blair House.
Biden was delighted to talk about his time at One Observatory Circle, especially praising the heated pool installed by former Vice President Dan Quayle.
“You’re on 80 acres and look out over the rest of the city,” Biden said. “You can walk out, and there’s a pool.”
“You can cycle around and never leave the grounds and exercise – but the White House is very different,” he praised.
The Vice President’s Residence (VPR) is on 13 acres of fenced land, not 80.
However, the entire compound of the Naval Observatory is 72 acres and includes several buildings and offices.
