Vice President Kamala Harris celebrated her nomination as the Democratic nominee by trolling former President Donald Trump at the stadium that hosted last month’s Republican National Convention.

Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, drew more than 15,000 supporters to Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum for an event Tuesday night held in conjunction with the Democratic National Convention.

It is traditionally unusual for a candidate to leave the convention, but with a bit of television magic, the ceremonial roll call concluded at Chicago’s United Center and then the public watched as Harris took the stage before a cheering crowd in Milwaukee.

Before Harris arrived, Walz made it clear that the event was intended to irritate Trump.

“Not only do we have tremendous energy at our convention, but we have even more energy at the place where they held their convention,” Walz said. “Oh, that guy is going to be very sad tonight, very sad, very sad.”

Trump has long touted his “huge” crowds and insisted Harris’s don’t compare.

He even falsely claimed that a Photo of crowd at Michigan airport protest was generated by AI.

Harris let the size of the crowd speak for itself, though she did make a joke after her supporters broke into a raucous chant of “we’re not going back.”

“Tim just looked at me and said, ‘We’re not going back, I don’t think,'” Harris said with a laugh.

During his remarks, Walz reminded the audience what a whirlwind the past month has been.

“You know it’s only been a month since the Republican Party met for its convention right here, in this very place,” Walz said.

“It doesn’t look like any of you saw it. But in case you didn’t, after promising us a speech that was going to be about unity and promising us that he was a changed man, Donald Trump subjected us to 92 minutes of ranting and raving and insanity,” the Minnesota governor said.

Trump attended the Republican National Convention in the days following the July 13 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

On Sunday after the Republican National Convention ended, President Joe Biden dramatically dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Harris by dropping out.

“They were at their best, they were feeling good, it was all over,” Walz recalled. “Trust me, Milwaukee, a lot can happen in four weeks.”

Harris acknowledged one of those things at the beginning of her remarks: Biden’s decision to step aside.

The president gave a late opening remarks Monday night to conclude the first night of the Democratic National Convention.

She then flew to California for vacation, leaving the DNC entirely in Harris’s hands.

Taking the stage alongside Walz, he said, “I also bring greetings from our incredible President Joe Biden.”

“Wasn’t he fantastic last night?” he asked the crowd. “And I know we are deeply grateful for his lifetime of service to our nation.”

From there, attendees began chanting, “Thank you, Joe!”

Harris was only on the big screens in Chicago for the start of her speech in Milwaukee, so she used the time to thank delegates for officially christening her as a nominee, which they did with several celebrity appearances, including a performance by Lil Jon and cameos by Eva Longoria and The Wire’s Wendell Pierce.

“Well, they’re done with the roll call,” Harris said. “And they’ve nominated Coach Walz and me to be the next vice president and president of the United States.”

“We are very honored to be your nominees. This is a people-driven campaign,” he boasted.

Later in his speech, he explained the significance of that when he paused his remarks to call for help when a supporter was having a medical emergency.

“This is who we are. This is what we do,” she said, after the crowd parted so medics could push a woman in a wheelchair. “Take care of each other.”

He added that this is “truly understanding what it means to love one’s neighbor.”
