Julia Morris has spoken about the break-up of her marriage to British comedian Dan Thomas in a revealing interview.

The couple separated in 2021 after 16 years of marriage.

Speaking to Kyle and Jackie O’s show on Monday, the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! host hinted the couple’s split was acrimonious but said she won’t go into detail about their divorce because she wants to protect the privacy of her ex and their two daughters.

“Oh look, there’s always more to the story (behind the split),” she told hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson.

‘It’s not like people are just like, ‘You know what, guys? Let’s break up.’

“I don’t want to disrespect him (Dan) or his life and, above all, I don’t want to disrespect my children by really opening Pandora’s box.”

He then addressed what he meant by Pandora’s box, a term often used to describe something that brings “misfortune.”

“I’ve been in show business for 75 years,” he joked, adding, “And whoever you catch, the universe catches you somewhere else.”

Kyle then pressed Julia on the details behind the breakup.

“I know you’re joking and moving on, but I feel like there’s bitterness there,” the KIIS FM radio star said.

But Julia was undeterred and dismissed Kyle’s question.

“It was three years ago,” he said.

“Pretty cool,” Kyle replied, before Julia replied, “No, I don’t think it’s cool at all.”

It comes after Julia shocked fans in May 2022, after announcing her divorce.

She later confirmed that the couple had been heading towards a split for some time.

“I’m famous for saying that every year I feel like we’re going to break up. But it definitely comes down to the same point, which is that we’re not necessarily growing in the same direction,” Julia told The Australian women’s weekly in July 2023.

She explained how she began to see her husband as a “pest” as their relationship became more fractured.

Although Julia described the break-up of her marriage as “super sad”, she was determined to set an example for her daughters Ruby, 17, and Sophie, 15, not to settle for an unhappy relationship.

“I think that’s where your patience starts to wear thin and you’re like, ‘I’m not going to live like this. How can this be an example to my daughters that it’s OK to live this life? No, thank you,'” she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Julia revealed how she learned to manage household chores that were previously handled by her husband, including taking care of their finances.

The TV star has also become more familiar with the Internet.

“Now I have to download permission slips from school. And I’ve never worked in an office. I’ve learned all that myself,” she boasted.

Julia married British comedian Dan on New Year’s Eve 2005.
